MASTER OF COMMERCE

M.Com is a post graduate master's degree focusing on commerce, management and economics related subjects. The Master of commerce typically requires two year of full-time study .given this structure, the M.Com differs from other business and management degrees: post graduate course.

The course is run under the Department of Commerce with a Vision to be a vibrant and innovative center for Commerce
Education and Mission to contribute to society through promoting of teaching learning and knowledge, to develop the
personality of students in a holistic manner, to equip the students to face the realities of life and to build life skills through
value-based education and service-oriented programmes.

The admission process for M.Com course is -

A pass in B.Com (All streams) with 40% in aggregate under part II through an Entrance Test (PGCET) conducted by the
University for the purpose, subject to all other rules, regulations and reservations prescribed therefor.

ORIENTATION PROGRAMME

Orientation programme for MCJ and M.com 1st year students was conducted on 26th Sep 2013. The programme was hosted by Mr. Praveen Kumar. The programme started with a prayer song sung by Rini, Rily, Jyothi, Ameema and Sindhu, followed by welcome address by the  Principal Rev.Fr.Vincent Arokiadas, He spoke about the importance of MCJ and M.Com courses, and
he introduced Professor P.L Vishweshwar Rao, Fr. Sagayraja (Vice Principal), Professor K.Malla Reddy. Later our Vice Principal
Fr. Sagaya Raja spoke about the importance of the Orientation Programme.

Session I started at 10:00 to 11:10 by the details read out by Mrs. Danam Tressa. Profile reading of Professor
P.L. Vishweshwar Rao was done by Ms. Preeti Raut. Professor P.L. Vishweshwar Rao spoke about advantages of
technology, accessibility of information and he spoke to the students. Then he listed the steps to be followed to
achieve the goals.

    Session II started at 11:30 to 12:30. The profile reading of Professor Dr. Prashantha Athama done by
    Mrs. Molly Chaturvedi. Professor Dr. Prashantha Athama spoke about (Commerce education). She said
    knowledge is forever. Gain as much as knowledge possible. importance of education in India, course
    curriculum, career prospects in Private and Government, remuneration in Private and Government. She
    has emphasized on a saying “don’t give a fish to a person tell him how to fish

    Professor. Dr. K. Malla Reddy spoke about mastering the subject and soft skills to communicate the subject. The corporate requires not only subject but also skills to work in the organization. Session ended with a formal vote of thanks proposed by
    Ms. Tapaswini (faculty department of MCJ). Professor Dr. K Malla Reddy honored the guests with a memento.


    NATIONAL EDUCATION DAY

    The department of business management organized one day national seminar on “RECENT TRENDS IN FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT AND FINANCIAL SERVICES”-deliberate the issue and challenges that India faces today.

    The journey of the seminar on 4th January, 2014, began with a formal inaugural session at 10:00 am in morning with a prayer song and VANDEMATARAM song by our college choir – ANNO DOMINI and with a positive note to invoke Gods presence by the lighting of the lamp by all the diginitaries.The key note address was given by the seminar Director Prof.Dr.K.Malla Reddy who highlighted about the seminar importance of banks to realize trends in financial sector to reach the market. The inaugural
    address was given by Prof. Dr.R.K.Mishra, Director, and IPE, Hyderabad.He opined on three important issues- integration, globalization and innovations of the financial sector to develop and contribute inturn to the country’s growth. The Guest of Honour, VG & Msgr.Swarna Bernard, Vice chairman ,HAES, said -Enthusiasm and the rest is perseverance through research and indepth study on financial management and financial services, which would faster the enhancement of basic amenities of people. Rev.Fr.Vincent Arokiadas, Principal, St. Joseph’s Degree and PG College in his presidential address quoted that the world would stand still if there are no financial management and financial services and it is to keep positive cash in hand and at the same
    time investment in the innovative financial products and services.

    The total number of abstracts paper were 65 and with two technical sessions.

    The seminar ended with a valedictory session Formally began with introduction of Prof. B Krishna Reddy, the chief guest the
    Dean, Dept of Business Management .In his address he highlighted on the importance of finance and new avenues in finance.

    Department of Business Management organized a Guest Lecture on “Disaster management” to create awareness among the students, the causes and measures of Disaster Management.

    Session started with the prayer song by the College Choir, Anna Domini followed by introduction of the Guest Speaker by Mr. V. S. Praveen, Prof.Dr.K.Malla Reddy welcomed the Guest and spoke briefly about the importance of Disaster Management and its relevance to Strategic management. He also spoke about Floods, Earthquake, Tsunami and the need of proper rehabilitation of the people and shifting from vulnerable places to safer places during floods and other natural calamities both at state and
    national level.
