Examination Procedure

  • Exam schedule – prepared by the examination committee in consultation with the principal and heads of the departments.
  • The tentative schedule is communicated to the students through student hand book
  • Final Exam schedule is displayed through circular and placed on notice board
  • Question bank is prepared and made available in the library
  • Syllabus for each term examination is displayed in the notice board.
  • Question paper made in sets (multiple sets) and handed over to examination committee two weeks prior to the exams.
  • Question papers are collected from faculty members in hard and soft copy.
  • On receipt of question papers further procedure adopted for printing the question paper(The question papers are printed in the confidential section of the examination branch and measures are taken for correctness of the question paper
  • Seating plan is displayed at the entrance and on every floor notice board.
  • Invigilation schedule is communicated in advance by the committee.
  • The question papers are made available in the examination hall 15 minutes prior to commencement of the exam.
  • Students are not allowed after 20 minutes of commencement of the examinations.
  • The attendance of the students is recorded and kept in the safe custody.
  • The Examination Cell collects back the written answer sheets to ensure that the number of answer sheets tally with the number of blank answer sheets issued and also with the attendance.
  • The answer sheets are handed over for evaluation on the following day.
  • Evaluation scripts are shown to the students and handed over to the examination committee for save custody.
  • Evaluation results are tabulated and entered into the SIS and register with remarks of individual subject faculty.
  • The consolidated marks statement is sent to the parents, duly signed by the class teacher, HoD and the principal with their remarks.
  • Re-exams are conducted for students below 40% and genuine absentees are given a second chance (to write the re-exam)

UG

Unit Test

Unit tests are conducted by the faculty members in their concerned subject during their class hours.

Term Examinations

Term exams are conducted twice in a year by adopting the University final exam pattern.

Pre Final Examinations

Pre final examinations are conducted for the theory and practical papers at the end of the academic year.

Annual Practical examination

Annual practical examination is held in the college through the external examiner appointed by University, and question papers are supplied by the university.
Marks are allotted based on

  • Student performance in practical exam
  • Record book
  • Viva-voce

By the external examiner.

Annual Theory Examination

For the annual examination students are sent to University allotted colleges to write the exam

 

 

EVALUATION

Internal Assessment

Two internal are conducted per semester for assessing 15% marks each. An average of two internals is given weightage.

Assignments

Awarded for a maximum of 5% weightage in each paper.

Practical Examination

Continuous evaluation is done on students' performance. Observation notes are maintained by students which carry 5 marks
Practical examination is conducted for 20 marks
10 marks for execution of program.
10 marks for viva-voce

Pre Final Examination

Pre final examinations are conducted for each semester before the University examination.

Mini Project/ Summer Internship

Mini projects are assigned for individual students.
Seminars are conducted for assessing the project work.
Marks are allotted based on the presentation and viva voce

Major Project

Students are divided into groups.
Each group is guided by a faculty member.
Internal marks for project will be given based on presentations, record work.
Grades are given by external examiner

University Semester Examination

University conducts semester examination to award 80% of weightage of marks in each paper.

 

 

Maintaining Transparency

  • Question paper setters are selected by the Examination committee.
  • Multiple sets of question papers are prepared.
  • The detailed time table schedule prominently displayed in the college notice board.
  • Separate seating arrangement for examinations
  • Valued answer scripts are given to students for verification.
  • Students can verify their marks in SIS.

 

Minimizing Malpractices

  • Seating arrangement is made in such way that no two students of same group can sit side by side.
  • Students are thoroughly checked at the entrance.
  • Strict vigilance during the examination.
  • Students are caught for malpractice by the invigilator and examination committee members.
  • Examination committee deals the malpractice cases with the advice of principal, vice-principal and HODs
  • Students caught for malpractice are called for explanation.
  • The students have to bring their parents/guardians when they have called for explanation.
  • Punishment is given depending on the severity of the malpractice 

 

Computerization of the Examination System

  • Question papers are computerized.
  • Student attendance sheets are generated through computer.
  • Entire tabulation work is computerized.
  • SIS(Student Information System) is used for entering the marks.
  • Results are analyzed through SIS.
  • Consolidated marks sheets are generated using SIS

 

Security and Confidentiality of Evaluation System

  • Separate control room for the examination secured with lock and key.
  • All enquires regarding examination are done through the academic coordinator.
  • Teaching and non-teaching staff instructed to maintain confidentiality
  • Multiple sets of question papers are prepared for each subject and one is selected.
  • Lecturers are asked not to discuss with the students about the question paper setting.
  • The examination committee is doing excellent job from the past few years with at most secrecy and was appreciated by Principal and Management.
